About Break Point Tennis
Break Point Tennis WA Pty Ltd is a growing tennis coaching and sports-development organisation delivering structured tennis programs across multiple locations in Perth.
We provide participation and development opportunities for juniors, adults, beginners, developing players and other participant groups through structured programs, development pathways, community initiatives, competitions, camps and related tennis activities.
We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Sports Development Officer – Tennis to support the continued development, promotion, coordination and evaluation of our tennis participation and skills-development programs.
About the Role
The Sports Development Officer – Tennis will be responsible for developing and expanding tennis participation, coordinating sports-development programs, strengthening player pathways and establishing productive relationships with schools, sporting clubs, community organisations and other relevant stakeholders.
The position is primarily focused on sports development, participation growth, program coordination and community engagement. On-court clinics, camps and structured skill-development activities will be undertaken as part of the broader sports-development responsibilities of the position.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Developing, implementing, coordinating and reviewing tennis development programs, participation initiatives and player-development pathways.
- Promoting participation in tennis, particularly among juniors, beginners, developing players and other identified community and participant groups.
- Overseeing participation of young people and other target groups and ensuring programs are inclusive, accessible, safe and appropriate to participant needs.
- Gathering and analysing participation information, participant feedback and community needs to identify opportunities for new and improved tennis programs.
- Monitoring program attendance, retention, progression and participant outcomes and recommending improvements to management.
- Developing and maintaining clear pathways from introductory participation through to development squads and appropriate competitive opportunities.
- Establishing and maintaining productive relationships with schools, sporting clubs, community organisations, venue partners, councils and relevant tennis and sporting bodies.
- Coordinating school, community and outreach initiatives designed to introduce new participants to tennis and encourage ongoing involvement.
- Planning program calendars, court and venue requirements, coaching resources, registrations, participant groupings and associated operational requirements.
- Organising and supporting tennis competitions, development camps, holiday programs, community participation events and other sports-development activities.
- Coordinating participant involvement in appropriate competitions and development opportunities.
- Maintaining accurate program records, participation statistics, schedules and participant feedback for program monitoring and evaluation.
- Advising and supporting coaches regarding program objectives, participant needs, development pathways and consistent program-delivery standards.
- Conducting group clinics, training camps and structured skills-development activities where required as part of broader sports-development programs.
- Assisting with the identification of talented and developing players and guiding them towards suitable squads, competitions and development opportunities.
- Supporting the recruitment, induction, mentoring and development of junior and trainee coaches.
- Ensuring all programs are delivered in a safe, inclusive, professional and participant-focused environment.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, applicants should demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of sports development, participation programs and tennis development pathways.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate sport or recreation programs.
- Experience engaging effectively with schools, families, coaches, sporting clubs, community organisations and sporting bodies.
- Strong organisational, planning, administration and communication skills.
- Ability to assess participant and community needs and adapt programs for different ages, abilities and participant groups.
- Ability to support and mentor coaches while maintaining consistent program standards.
- A strong commitment to junior participation, inclusion, player development and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Other Requirements
Applicants should preferably possess:
- A Diploma-level or higher qualification in Sports Development, Sport Management, Sport and Recreation, Sports Coaching and Administration, Sports and Events Management, or a closely related field is desirable.
- Relevant tennis coaching qualification or accreditation appropriate to the on-court components of the position.
- A current Working with Children Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Any relevant registration or accreditation required by recognised tennis or sporting organisations.
- A current Australian driver's licence or the ability to travel between Break Point Tennis venues as required.
