Chef

Little Wave Scarborough is looking for a passionate and experienced Chef to join our kitchen team.

Located on The Esplanade in Scarborough, Little Wave is a neighbourhood café and wine bar with a strong Mediterranean influence, inspired by the food, culture and hospitality of France and Italy. We offer an all-day dining experience that moves from breakfast and coffee through to lunch, dinner and evening wine, with a focus on fresh produce, handmade pasta, seasonal ingredients and vibrant, flavour-driven dishes.

The Role

We are looking for a Chef who is confident working in a fast-paced kitchen and takes genuine pride in producing high-quality food consistently. You will play an important role in maintaining our existing food standards while also contributing ideas and creativity to our evolving seasonal menu.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Mediterranean and European cuisine, excellent preparation and cooking skills, and the ability to work calmly and efficiently during busy service.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare and cook high-quality dishes across breakfast, lunch and dinner service
2. Maintain consistency, presentation and portion control across every plate
3. Work closely with the kitchen and management team on seasonal menus and specials
4. Demonstrate strong knowledge of fresh produce, pasta, seafood, meat and Mediterranean flavours
5. Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen organisation
6. Assist with ordering, stock control, preparation and minimising food waste
7. Lead by example and contribute positively to a professional kitchen culture
8. Work efficiently during busy services while maintaining attention to detail
9. Support and mentor junior kitchen team members where required

About You

We are looking for someone who:

1. Has proven experience as a Chef in a quality café, restaurant, wine bar or similar venue
2. Has strong knowledge of Mediterranean, Italian or European cuisine
3. Is confident with fresh pasta, seafood, meat and seasonal produce
4. Has excellent organisational and time-management skills
5. Takes pride in presentation, flavour and consistency
6. Is reliable, positive and works well as part of a team
7. Can remain calm and organised under pressure
8. Has a genuine passion for hospitality and good food
9. Is creative and enjoys contributing new ideas to the menu
