The Wardrobe Man is a Perth-based business specialising in custom wardrobes, built-in wardrobes, walk-in wardrobes, shelving systems, sliding wardrobe doors, home office cabinetry, living room shelving, TV units and customised storage solutions.
We are seeking a skilled Cabinet Maker to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hands-on role involving the fabrication, assembly and installation of custom wardrobes, cabinetry, shelving systems and related fittings. The successful applicant will work from drawings, measurements and specifications to produce high-quality custom cabinetry and storage solutions.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Read and interpret drawings, work orders, measurements, shop drawings and technical specifications.
- Select and work with materials including timber, laminates, particle board, veneers, engineered wood products and other cabinetry materials.
- Measure, mark out, cut, shape and prepare components for wardrobes, shelving systems, cabinets and custom fit-outs.
- Operate workshop machinery, power tools, hand tools, edge banders and CNC-related equipment where required.
- Fabricate and assemble wardrobe units, shelving systems, drawers, panels, doors, counters, cabinets and other custom components.
- Fit hinges, locks, catches, drawer runners, shelves, sliding door systems and other associated cabinetry hardware.
- Apply edge-banding, laminate finishes, protective finishes and final adjustments to achieve a high-quality result.
- Install built-in wardrobes, walk-in wardrobes, shelving, home office cabinetry, TV units and other custom cabinetry.
- Check completed work for accuracy, alignment, finish, quality and functionality before handover.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop and comply with workplace health and safety procedures.
Skills and experience required
- Minimum AQF Certificate III or higher in Cabinet Making and Timber Technology or a closely related field.
- Certificate IV or Diploma level qualifications in a relevant trade field will be highly regarded.
- Minimum 12 months of relevant full-time work experience, or equivalent part-time or casual work experience, in cabinet making, wardrobe installation, custom cabinetry, joinery, shelving systems or similar timber-based trade work. Experience should be relevant to the duties of the Cabinet Maker position.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, measurements, work orders and technical specifications.
- Experience working with laminates, engineered wood products, shelving systems, drawers, sliding doors and cabinetry hardware.
- Competent use of hand tools, power tools and cabinet-making workshop equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to complete accurate, high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Current driver’s licence is preferred.
Desirable but not essential
Experience using cabinetry design, quoting or production software such as Mozaik or similar.
