About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HSE Management Systems Documentation Advisor to support the development of a comprehensive Health, Safety, Environment, Community and Training (HSECT) management system and Mine Safety Management System (MSMS) for a junior explorer and contract mining business. This role is focused on developing, drafting, editing and controlling high-quality management system documentation, including policies, standards, procedures, plans, templates, checklists and forms. The successful candidate will play a key role in building an audit-ready document suite that supports safe, compliant and effective mining operations in Western Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, draft and edit HSECT and mine safety management system documents, including policies, standards, procedures, work instructions, plans, templates and forms.
- Create MSMS management plan templates suitable for tender submissions, project mobilisation and operational use across exploration, construction, mining services and mining operations.
- Review, interpret and convert source material, legacy documentation and subject-matter input into controlled, client-branded management system documents.
- Develop risk management documentation, including HAZID and risk assessment procedures, Level 2 risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Take 5s, safe work procedures and critical risk management materials.
- Prepare competency, Verification of Competency (VOC), induction, training and assessment documentation.
- Apply and maintain document control requirements, including numbering conventions, revision status, approval workflows and controlled document registers.
- Ensure documentation aligns with relevant Western Australian WHS legislation, including the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.
- Support alignment with recognised risk management and management system standards, including ISO 31000:2018.
- Track document development progress, identify gaps and priorities, and report completion status.
- Liaise with leadership, subject-matter experts and site personnel to verify technical accuracy and operational suitability.
- Incorporate review feedback and manage documents through draft, review, approval and issue stages.
About You
You will be a highly organised technical writer or HSE professional with strong document development, formatting and document control capability. You will have a practical understanding of mining safety management systems and the ability to convert technical information into clear, controlled and audit-ready documentation.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated experience drafting and editing HSE or mine safety management system documentation.
- Working knowledge of the Western Australian Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.
- Familiarity with ISO 31000:2018 risk management principles and management system document hierarchies.
- Strong technical writing, editing, formatting and document control skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Word skills, including styles, templates, tables, tables of contents and document formatting.
- Experience using SharePoint or other document management systems.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple documents and priorities to deadline.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to incorporate technical feedback accurately.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in a junior explorer, mining services or contract mining environment.
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or relevant tertiary qualification.
- Experience developing training, induction or assessment materials.
- Knowledge of critical risk management frameworks.
- Experience with digital safety platforms or contractor pre-qualification systems.
